SDH Toastmasters Club Competetion - 11th October 2010
This last Monday (11th October 2010), the Sime Darby Healthcare TMC had its usual club meeting after a slight change in plans to do a combined meeting with Stamford College TMC. For this meeting there was a good turn up of club members and visitors. Like any other Sime Darby Healthcare TMC meeting, the meeting was filled with lots of laughter and humour. Among the highlights of the meeting, I was very encouraged by the turn out for the meeting. We had guests from Stamford College TMC, Sunway TMC, Shakelee Dynamic TMC and regulars in our meeting like Stephen Fernando and Samuel.
During table topics, we were no longer called to speak from our minds but rather our hearts.
For the speeches, we were privileged to have 5 speeches delivered, 2 were basic project speeches while 3 were advance speeches. Among those speeches, we where very privilege to have Dr. Hanis present and demonstrate his speech entitled "The Saxophone - Part 2". Not only was the speech very insightful and well delivered, we were also given a music piece demonstration as a closing. We were also entertained with 2 story telling speeches by TM Jay Vee on "The Deceitful Pelican" and TM Eu-Jynn on his lemon tree, a praise speech by TM Lucas praising the success of Donald Trump and another speech by TM Jet Chan on his close to death experience.
Above all the entertaining speeches and humorous comments during the meeting, we manage to end on time at 8:30pm.
To sum the meeting up we were honoured to acknowledge the following speakers:
Best Table Topic SpeakerBushra, CC, CL
Table Topic: Music
Best Project SpeechEu-Jynn, CC
Topic: My Lemon Tree
Best Speech EvaluatorJamila, ACB
Evaluating Speaker: Lucas, CC

Usually you would expect the mood to be a little more tense and serious since it is a competition, but instead the meeting was spontaneous and humorous. There were lots of laughs, not just because of the humorous speeches, but I think everyone was in a cheerful spirit. And to top it off, we where served with jelly (famous in our club), dates, low fat fried rice and cheese cake for dinner and for our Muslim friends to "buka puasa".

Presidential Address 2009/2010
Club Vision: To shape ourselves towards to be successful communicators and leaders in Toastmasters.
Let’s start from the very beginning. This is the beginning of a new term. We have a lot to look forward to and many challenges to face. It is my pleasure to be your President for 2009-2010. With your help, together we can achieve our goals and club goals. I shall put in my full commitment for all members ( 7, 11 ) negotiable.
Time is our biggest hurdle. We must try to overcome it. Only twice a month, 2nd & 4th Monday, all members meet. EXCO meets once a month. Sure we can make it. When time permits, we can go extra miles to visit other Clubs to learn more. Keep an open mind. Please don’t say “cannot”, say “I will”. Now you can do it. Show your potential!
Enjoy your Toastmasters journey to success.
